The time between an idea and you acting on it determines the amount of power you possess.

Time and time again, I have the same conversation with the leaders I talk to.

"What are we working on today?" I ask.
"I have been putting off task Y for a while."
"I don't know what it is and why I do this."
"How long is task Y going to take?"
"Probably 30 minutes."
"Great! I give you 30 minutes, and then you call me back. Bye."

What happens in this moment? The reasons for putting it off disappear, as there is nothing that can sustain them. Usually, the fact that they are paying me a good amount of money for the coaching also makes them want to get it done fast.

My role in this moment is to serve as a reminder of what it takes to get their task done and to eliminate their stories of procrastination, prompting them to act now.

The Human Paradox:

Human beings are amazing at two things:

Getting incredible things done: We have invented airplanes, found ways to generate and capture electricity, developed computing, established human rights, countries, food sourcing, and everything around you that you use, and so much more.

Creating stories that make us believe we are not able to act now.
It is funny, though, as the only place anyone has ever acted was now; still, we invent reasons for why now is not a good time, why someday (tomorrow) is a better time, and why we can't make a decision right now.

Breaking the "Not Now" Game

When I see that one of my clients plays this game with themselves, the game of inventing stories of "not now," they get to break the game and I invite them to play a different game: the game of being a creator, performing with a calm mind, and with a body whose actions are aligned with their desires and what they say.

So far, no one has hired me to help them put things off for longer. They hire me to help them break the pattern, see their own power to do so, and take actions aligned with where they want to be.

While you are reading this, I am sure you have thought about something that you have been putting off, and if you haven't, then you do now.

Here is my invitation: cut through it! Stop reading, turn towards the thing you have been putting off, and act.

Yes, I know now is not the right time, but the right time never comes. So act now, right now. The more you do, the more you'll see that this is the only answer that translates to anything created in the world. Act now.
