“It is important that you get clear for yourself that your only access to impacting life is action. The world does not care what you intend, how committed you are, how you feel, or what you think, and certainly, it has no interest in what you want and don’t want. Take a look at life as it is lived and see for yourself that the world only moves for you when you act.”

- Werner Erhard

How do I become an artist?

Make art.

How do I become a better writer?

Write.

How do I make more money?

Make something people pay more money for.

If you really look into your most pressing problems and wants, you will find one common denominator in them. The solution for all of them is found in you taking action.

As straightforward, logical, and sensible as that seems, we often don’t act according to it.

“I really should get more contracts in,” a founder told me in a coaching session.

I asked: "Who on your team creates and closes these contracts?"

"I do."

“If I looked at your calendar now, would I find contract and acquisition time?”

"No."

“What else would I find?”

He listed about 40 things.

If this is the most important thing for your company right now, how do you think not taking action on it and not making space for it will impact your ability to get contracts?

“It won’t happen.”

He got it.

The only guarantee we have for our dreams and goals not to happen is if we simply don’t take any action on them.

Want to get fit? Want to not get any results with it? Keep wanting it and take 0 action on it. I guarantee you it won’t make any difference.

Want to dream about working less and having some free time with your family?

Keep wanting it and put no hard stop on your calendar, let your work follow you home, let it hunt you. Let it imprison you and simply keep wanting it to be different.

Or hope it’s going to change.

Or you get down to the reality of things and start looking your life in the eyes and see that, with all you’ve accomplished, everything you made happen always came down to you taking action.

The world does not care for your wants, your wishes, and your hopes, it cares for you showing it that you really want it in the form of action.

Act, and it shall be given.
